The FS-XP-011 is a compact external antenna with a magnetic base and 60 cm cable, allowing flexible placement away from a desktop PC’s metal chassis. It supports 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, with a peak gain of 8 dBi, VSWR of 1.5 or less and 50-ohm impedance. Two RP-SMA male leads connect separate antenna elements, making it suitable for compatible 2×2 setups as a MIMO WiFi Antenna. This External Antenna is available with an RP-SMA connector, but RP-SMA and standard SMA are not always interchangeable, even though they look similar. Check the connector type and centre contact before ordering. If you’re not sure which one you have, send us a photo of the port and we can help identify it.

Q2. Is the antenna gain 8 dBi or 12 dBi?

The specified gain for this model is 8 dBi. If you’ve seen a 12 dBi rating elsewhere, make sure it refers to the same model and frequency range. Gain alone doesn’t tell you how far a WiFi signal will reach; the radiation pattern, installation and surrounding environment all play a part.

Q3. Does this MIMO WiFi antenna have two separate antenna elements?

Yes. The assembly has two feed cables connected to separate elements housed in the same unit. It can be used with a compatible 2×2 MIMO WiFi card, provided the frequency range and connectors match.
