Product Overview
FPC Antenna 2.4G 5.8G Dual Band with U.FL IPEX Connector
Product features:
The FS-JB-NZ001 is a custom FPC antenna that we tailor to your PCB layout and enclosure. From 20 pieces, you can customize the operating frequency, film dimensions, cable length, connector type and printed logo to suit your device. We use flexible polyimide film with a high-tack adhesive backing, allowing you to mount the antenna along a curved wall or in a tight space near the battery without taking up much room inside the housing. For the 2.4G 5.8G dual band FPC internal antenna, we check the antenna matching in your intended enclosure to account for the effects of the housing and nearby components. Peak gain is around 3 dBi, with a VSWR of around 1.5, depending on the final design and test conditions. We supply U.FL as the standard connector and can discuss IPEX-4 or solder-tab options to match your module and assembly requirements. Send us your enclosure drawing and wireless module model, and we’ll review the installation space and connection details before preparing a sample. The FPC antenna price depends on your chosen specifications and order quantity.

Application
IoT Smart Devices-Smart sensors, hubs and controllers often have limited space inside the enclosure, leaving little room for a conventional external antenna. An FPC antenna can be fitted inside the housing, with the coaxial cable routed to the wireless module. For an FPC antenna for IoT smart device applications, antenna size, cable length and mounting position can be adjusted to suit the device layout.
Wearables & Handheld Devices-Wearables, portable terminals and handheld readers need antennas that fit into compact housings without taking up too much space. An FPC antenna offers a flexible alternative to a rigid PCB antenna and can be positioned to fit the available area. Cable length and connector options can also be customized to make installation easier and better suit the internal layout.
Cameras & Video Doorbells-In smart cameras and video doorbells, the lens, circuit board and other components leave limited space for the antenna. An internal antenna can be placed within the available area without adding a protruding part to the outside of the device. For dual-band models, the antenna position and surrounding materials are worth considering early in the design process, as both can affect wireless performance.
Smart Meters & Utility Modules-Smart meters and utility modules typically house their electronics inside a protective enclosure, so the antenna needs to fit around the existing components. An FPC antenna can be installed inside a plastic housing, with its dimensions and cable routing selected to suit the layout. If the same product is offered in several enclosure versions, each design may need to be checked to ensure the antenna fits and performs as expected.
Zigbee & Bluetooth Sensors-Zigbee and Bluetooth sensors commonly use the 2.4 GHz band and often have very little space available for an antenna. An FPC antenna can fit into compact enclosures, while an adhesive backing, where available, can make installation more straightforward. For a 2.4G 5.8G dual band FPC internal antenna, the required frequency bands and available mounting space are important starting points when selecting an antenna for the device.
FAQ
Q1. Is U.FL the same as IPEX-1, and how does it differ from IPEX-4?
U.FL, IPEX-1 and MHF-I are commonly used names for the same connector type. IPEX-4, also known as MHF4, is smaller and uses a different mating interface. The two are not interchangeable, so it’s worth checking the connector type on your wireless module before ordering. If you’re not sure which one you have, you can send us a close-up photo or the module model, and we’ll help identify it.
Q2. Can an FPC antenna be bent to fit my device?
Some FPC antennas can follow a curved surface, depending on their design. However, sharp folds or creases across the radiating area may affect performance. If space is limited or the antenna needs to follow a particular shape, sharing your enclosure layout and intended mounting position can help us determine a suitable installation.
Q3. Can the antenna be customized for my enclosure and wireless module?
Yes, customization is available to suit different device designs. For an FPC antenna for IoT smart device applications, the enclosure size, wireless module and available mounting space are useful starting points. Depending on your requirements, we can discuss options such as antenna dimensions, frequency, cable length and connector type. Testing the antenna inside the actual enclosure can also help identify whether any tuning is needed.
Q4. Will the adhesive backing hold inside a warm device?
That depends on the adhesive material, the operating temperature and the surface it’s attached to. A clean, dry mounting surface generally helps the adhesive hold properly. If your device gets warm during operation or goes through frequent temperature changes, it’s worth checking the adhesive’s temperature rating to make sure it’s suitable for your application.
